I've been involved in art in some way all my life. I worked in vitreous enamel on metal in the 60's and 70's, then as a graphic artist for a corporation for 20 years.
In 2003 I left my job to become a full-time artist again. I work in both oil and watercolor.I tend to do florals and wildlife in watercolor and figurative work in oils. I'm inspired by the Orientalists of the 19th century, the pre-Raphaelites and the Neo-classicists. I've had a lifetime fascination with exotic places, and scenes that evoke a different place and time. That has been a great influence on my artistic vision.
Although I do most of my painting from photographs, I draw and paint from life in classes and workshops at every opportunity.
To me, being an artist is a journey of learning and growing; I learn something from every painting .
